Fort Knightly | Issue 5

…GO! Round 1 of the 2018 season is just around the corner, and most importantly that means… fortnightly editions of the Fort-Knightly coming soon! This issue however, is action packed. We’ll recap the WOSSC Forum, have a look at some pre- season results, look ahead to some upcoming events, and check in with the latest competitions. Keep reading right through until the end to have a look at the recently released 2018 fixtures for all 4 teams.

Firstly, a huge thank-you to everyone who came out to the WOSSC Forum last week. There was a great turn-out, especially from the Women’s team! Leo, Sam and Swaif insightfully explained how they want their teams to move forward on the pitch this season and the members in attendance had the opportunity to have their questions answered. The outline of the Committee’s 1- 3-5 year Strategic Plan were handed out with the aim to discuss further at the Season Launch on Friday the 6th April at the Goody. Soft copies of the coach’s presentations and the Strategic Plan outline will be circulated to the members in the next few days.

All the events throughout the season play an important role in fundraising for the club, creating an enjoyable environment, and improving club morale. The Committee are always looking for more volunteers to help with the existing events, or for new event ideas.

The next event coming up is the Season Launch at the Goody on the 6th of April to officially get the season underway! Following that is the Westminster Fair, more information below. Stay tuned with the Social Calendar and we hope to see you all out at one, two, or all the events this season!

WOSSC Fundraising

How you can help.

The Westminster School Fun Fair is the Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year. The will be running a Slushy and Popcorn Stall and organising the Car Parking on the day.

The fair is held at Westminster School on Saturday the 7th April.

We are aware that the men’s teams will all have games on the day, so if available, we would love for the men to put their hands up for the morning slots and the women to put their hands up for the afternoon slots. The 3 time slots that people can volunteer for are:

8:00am – 10:30am

10:30am – 1:00pm

1:00pm – 3:30pm

If you are available, please contact a committee member stating which time slots you can help with. Just look at how much fun Finn, Boose, and Josh have had in the past, below.

Instagram did not return a 200.

Question: Should this section of the Fort-Knightly just be re-named “Hamish’s Haiku”?
Answer: Yes, probably

As the season kicks on, the Fort-Knightly is hoping to showcase the off- field talents of the WOSSC Community. But until more submissions come flooding in, here’s yet another haiku from Hamish.

If you do have your own submission or want to highlight someone else’s off-field creativity/success with the Fort-Knightly readers, send it on in to
